Saturday

So the adventure begins.

It took me a total of 30mins to pack yesterday. As the weeks had led up to the big day I'd been chucking everything I needed the take into the spare room. All I had to do was make it fit somehow (this will be in the next video).

Saying goodbye to mum and dad was the hardest. I felt instantly sad when walking through my gate and onto the plane. Separation anxiety I guess. Ill miss them. And I'll miss them trying to give me 'spare money' at the last second as well. Lol

Jebus bloody hell Melbourne trains have a long way to go before becoming the next underground. I guess because the only experience I know is of the London Underground so I've been spoilt. I spent a good half an hour walking around southern cross station looking at where to buy the bloody ticket to get on the train. Turns out you need to buy this stupid 'Myki' card thing (similar to the underground's Oyster cards) but how was I suppose to know that when it never said it was actually a ticket. I had know idea what this Myki thing was.

Anyway I got there in the end. Feelin pretty frustrated and slightly threatened by all the crazy BDO (big day out) goers running around screaming, my mood was dramatically increased by a man. He made me laugh. He was wearing a kind of lavishly made gold Chinese outfit with a hat with all sorts of flags poking out the top and he had strapped to his back, a giant gold urn at least the length of his torso. And his purpose? To walk around and make people laugh I guess. He was across on the other platform but I could see him walking up to strangers and saying bizarre things. And every now and then he would look over at my platform and wave or pull funny faces at people. It cracked me up. I was a nutter sitting alone on the platform laughing to myself. And I thought welcome to Melbourne.

Then the next random thing happened. As I was beginning to enjoy being a fly on the wall and watch all the craziest walk past (including some extremely short skirts and bad cellulite), I hear someone say 'Tara?' Melbourne isn't so big after all :) it was Cynthia, Sally's house mate. We just coincidently were catching the same train to Sally's. really quite convenient actually. And then I went into 'omg a friend, yes!' Mode and clung to her the rest of the way home :)

  1. Your Mother e-mailed your Aunt with the address to your Blog but she wasn't able to access it ans asked for my help. I had no problem and e-mailed her the address I used. Your Mother also told lis to "Try to ignore the spelling". I'm not going there. Enjoy the trip. I look forward to future postings. Love, Uncle Jim.

    2. On my screen, my comment shows "Love, Uncle Jim" at the end. I'm proud to declare publically I'm one of your legion of admirers. I could not identify a Profile option with which I was familiar other than Anonymous. LOVE, UNCLE JIM.
