Not coping!

Neuschwantein Castle, lived King of Bavaria, Ludwig II.

Not coping, not coping, not coping, not coping at all! It is soooo cold.

We went the Neuschwanstein castle today, 2 hours out of Munich. Ever since we learnt about it in history class and someone told me that its the castle that inspired the Disneyland castle, it has been on my bucket list as a must do. It was amazing!! Incredible! Romanesque exterior with Byzantine chapel and high gothic bedrooms. The king was such a sucker for a good love story as well and fairytales. Just like Disney. He has the walls of ever room painted with amazing paintings of scenes from different fairytales. And each room has a different story. Then, randomly, you walk through a hallway, through a cave and out again into the hallway. Yes that's right, a cave. I totally want one in my future house. He also has a massive council hall for balls on the top floor with awesome views over the town and landscape (just like a fairytale) but never had the intention of attending them and instead had an acoustic link made to the cave so he could sit in his cave, not socialise and listen to the music and goings on from the hall. Just like the Great Gatsby! I wonder if he was searching for his love as well. I have also always wondered why the old beds are always so short. I noticed this in Versailles as well. I found out that it was because there use to be bad superstition about sleeping flat so they always slept sitting up. Uncomfortable!!!

Anyway. As beautiful as the castle was it was sooooo unbearably cold. We immediately went shopping when we got back and stocked up on socks and thermals. But guess what?!?!? We're officially in the minuses! Switzerland was about 0 but Munich is definitely minus something. Initiation complete :) Now to tackle Berlin which is apparently colder :S and then live in Poland. Which is A LOT colder.
