Switzerland!!!

So can i just say, switzerland is amazing. Like truly amazing. and its not just because its amazing how people here live in such cold where god is constantly trying to cover there entire city in Snow.

Its vibrant with people all over the streets even though its -3 and snowing. If that was launceston if would look like a ghost town. The architecture and the streets are something ive never seen and all the same style. You really can imagine the 1800's when you walk through, down and up them.

What else is awesome? Everyone is just walking around with snowboards everywhere like girls walk around with hand bags. Catching the metro, shopping, dining. A place i could get use to :) and the metro goes up the next door mountain! Like you can just be in the city and the next, bam! Sleigh bells ringing.

I think snowboarding has had an influence on the clothing shops as well. Zurich isnt a snowboarding town. I mean there are mountains all around but its more part of everyday life and the city is a everyday living city so its not just full of snowboarding shops like you'd see in Jyndabyne (NSW) or Queenstown (NZ). Its full of fashion shops. But unlike milan where black is the bew black and everyone wore amarni but was actaully quite dull, these shops have the coolest fashion! Like 90's style pop fashion! Madonna, funky and fresh! I actually love it.

One of the coolest things i did today though would have to have been making a cup by screaming. Like you know, a cup, like a drinking cup and screaming, as in horror film screaming. How you say? This doesnt make sense you say? Well lets start by saying we went to the design museum and geeked out (being future architects and all), thats your first clue. Now in Archi school back home i have always loved the laser cutters and timber Router. Little (and sometimes big) machines that will make peices for you! Thats your second clue. But the problem is with the timber router and laser cutters is yes they can cut wood, but no they cant shape would. Theres no 3D about it. Clue three. 'Cut 3D?' you say? 'This sounds like honey i shrunk the kids!' you say? Well 3D printing systems are real and come in many forms. So imagine our excitement when we saw a whole exhibit today dedicated to 3D Printing. And yes it was interactive!

So then there comes the fusion of a file developed the print a cut and the dstortion made by the pattern of a sound wave. The 3D printer uses tubes of plastic and melts it and squeezes it out the other end like a glue gun uses glue. Except this is a smart glue gun set upright on a tracker with a vertically moving plate beneath it to develope an object from the bottom up....... Fascinating i know!! So this file, to make this cup, its been programmed to change and mould to the shape of frequencies. So we went inside this booth, pressed this red button, a green light came on and we screamed. As loud as we possibly could. Aparently it was so loud that the a person from the Uni upstairs, who actually developed the project, came down to congratulate us when she heard it. From upstairs. It made my day when they told us we could take our cup home. My little screaming cup :)
The coolest souveigner ever!!!
